Microsoft Testing “Memberships” Subscription Section in Windows 10 Store App

Microsoft has just started rolling out the new search experience in the Windows 10 App Store on Insider Builds and it comes with a new search category called “Memberships”. The new category centralizes all available memberships and offers a way for users to quickly find them and cancel them.

At the moment, the category is only showing the Xbox Game Pass subscription but it’s likely that other memberships add-ins will be added soon. To browse the available subscriptions, you would need to join the Release Preview Ring, update the Microsoft Store to the latest version, and search “Xbox” to see the membership category on the left sidebar.

The apps and games subscriptions are a big business, but users may hesitate to sign up because managing, buying, and keeping track of subscriptions haven’t been as easy as opting in to them. This means that people are concerned they will sign up for a subscription and forget about it, while being charged every month.

At the time of writing this story, we’re not seeing the “Memberships” search category in the Microsoft Store on non-Insider machines. By the looks of things, this feature is currently being rolled out to the users in the United States and the users across the world should be getting it in the coming weeks as well.
